某戦車アニメですっかり有名になったこの曲ですが、wikiによると作詞・作曲者不詳で、精鋭部隊とされる擲弾兵（手榴弾を投げる兵士）の勇敢さを歌っているそう。1815年に近衛歩兵第一連隊がグレナディアガーズ（擲弾兵近衛連隊）に改名したのに伴い、この曲を連隊の速歩行進曲として制定したとのことなので、歩兵連隊が横一列で行進・突撃するシーンに使うには正確さを欠いていることになります。まあ、そんな細かいことを言い出したら映画に規制曲なんて使えなくなってしまうので、「17世紀の英国軍で使用された軍隊行進曲」という縛りの中から、最もシーンに適しているとキューブリックが判断して採用したのでしょう。
上記の動画は歌詞入りのものですが、歌いやすくするためか行進曲バージョンとは少しメロディーラインもリズムも違っています。歌詞は以下の通りですが、動画ではこの1、３、5番を抜粋して歌っているようです。
